I saw it last night, and liked the entire storyline. There's something extremely hopeless about the world ending slowly as it was heading for in the movie.
I want to read P.D. James' book now to see how much the movie cut.
Downloaded last night, must watch it.

The book is not very good. The film is the superior piece of work in just about every way and is far more bleak and visionary than the novel.

I had a feeling that would be the case. I'll probably end up reading it five years down the road and be disappointed. My track record isn't great for finishing books.

I was disappointed in the movie, but only because of the premise. Everything else is spectacular. I especially like how they treated the youngest members of the last generation.
For a better movie from the same January 2007 release date, watch Pan's Labyrinth.

Children of Men was the best movie of 2006.
Pan's Labyrinth was the best Spanish Civil War movie of the last year at least.

Watched it. Pretty damn good. Those long shots were pretty good, especially that one in the refugee camp where everything is going fucking crazy and the shot doesn't change at all.
